Discovering the Strands of Music

Most of my posts are cover songs, with the occasional exception.

Posts tagged #Extra Thread are posts which include various ways some songs are connected.

Oh, and I'm from Toronto. I love this city. If you search #toronto, you'll find a plethora of Toronto talent!

I'm mostly into soul, r&b, hip-hop, and reggae. But, I do enjoy the occasional pop, rock, and bossa nova track!

Christina Aguilera is a very underrated soul artist.  I have no idea how she can muster such a strong, powerful voice from her skinny body (well…  I mean before…  I’m pretty sure she’s fat now).  Her best album “Back to Basics” had numerous amazing soul tracks on it like “Understand” and “Aint No Other Man”.  Of course, the latter was produced by Hip-Hop Legend DJ Premier.

In the soundtrack of Burlesque, she proved her diva status by covering Etta James’ “Something’s Got a Hold on Me”.  I think what stands out about this cover is Aguilera’s ability to be strong with her vocals.  You can tell she can probably sing in a place full of people without a microphone and still sound crisp.
