Sorry for the hiatus but my computer got a virus… Also, I’m going to change my format and just upload videos… easier to do.

Curtis Mayfield and Dwele want you to “Move on Up” (while Kanye West needs to “Touch the Sky”)

Having trouble getting up in the morning? Well this may work for you!
Make a playlist exactly as long as you have to get ready in the morning. Go from relaxed songs to more energetic ones. You will be able to tell how you’re doing on time by the currently playing song. (I know, you can always get a watch, but it really does help you stay more alert in the morning)
If you do decide to do this, I suggest the last song you play is Dwele’s version of “Move on up” originally by Curtis Mayfield. It really gets your juices pumpin’! I love the drums on this tune! You might recognize this song because Kanye West sampled this track for “Touch the Sky”.

The Portland Cello Project, Kanye West, and Rihanna are blinded by “All of the Lights”

I don’t know about anyone else, but I am DIGGIN’ Rihanna’s long red hair. The degree of “flyness” is so off the charts, it just can’t be measured. I’m glad she shed that weird mow hawk, short, belongs on an 80’s sitcom hairstyle.
To the song. “All of the Lights” by Kanye West and featuring apparently the rest of the world, is hands down the anthem of early 2011. Just the different components of the track and the unique rhythmic tempo keeps you guessing the whole time.
This cover, from The Portland Cello Project, offers us the classical side to the song. I think the full band (with trumpets, flutes and all), really do the song justice. I guess I have a sweet spot for old people remaking hip-hop music. The breakdown at the 4:02 mark is my favourite part.

Kanye West is “Everything I am”
Ok so my header doesn’t make a lot of sense. Sue me. Anyway, I remember watching this live on TV 3 years ago and this rendition of “Everything I am” reminded me why I loved Yeezy so much in the first place. The live rendition of “Champion” in the beginning isn’t too bad either. I know this isn’t really a cover, but screw you it’s my blog! (Read more for original)
