Discovering the Strands of Music

Most of my posts are cover songs, with the occasional exception.

Posts tagged #Extra Thread are posts which include various ways some songs are connected.

Oh, and I'm from Toronto. I love this city. If you search #toronto, you'll find a plethora of Toronto talent!

I'm mostly into soul, r&b, hip-hop, and reggae. But, I do enjoy the occasional pop, rock, and bossa nova track!

  • Michael Jackson and Quadron ask “Baby Be Mine”

European artists are getting more soulful by the minute.  In the last 5-10 years or so, Europe has produced some of the most soulful artists ever to grace a stage.  From Amy Winehouse to Selah Sue, Europe is adding their own flare to soul music.

Take for instance the Danish group Quadron.  They describe their music as “electric soul”.  This is a cover they did of Michael Jackson’s “Baby Be Mine”.  When it comes to modern day soul music, no one does it better than a European artist.

  • John Mayer and Michael Jackson know it’s “Human Nature” (So does SWV)

I can’t believe it’s been almost 2 years since Michael Jackson died.  It got me thinking…

Is there anyone in music today who, if they died, would have the same impact as “The King of Pop”?

Maybe Madonna?  Eminem perhaps?  Mariah Carey?  Probably not…

It just goes to show you how much of an impact Michael Jackson had not only in music, but in pop culture.

On to this cover of “Human Nature” by John Mayer.  This was performed at Jackson’s memorial and quite frankly, was the only performance I liked.  I like how the guitar is a little faint, and how he doesn’t sing on the track.  You can tell it was a high sign of respect for him to do that.
