The Weeknd and Eliza Doolittle love “The Morning”
Living in Toronto, you tend to gravitate towards the artists who represent your city. I liked The Weeknd right off the bat. His first mixtape, House of Balloons, was one of the most innovative mixtapes I’ve heard in a long time. But then came Thursday. Other than Drake’s verse on “The Zone”, I thought this was a terrible mixtape. It’s just a poorer version of the first mixtape.
On to this cover of “The Morning” by Eliza Doolittle. The band was able to add their own smooth, jazzy feel to the track. The bass guitar is what does it for me.
